Start them young with Torrot
Suitable for wannabe off-road racers from the age of three years, Spanish brand Torrot’s E, T and S series offer three styles of electric off-road bikes designed specifically for kids: mx/endure, trials and supermoto
Midlands-based distributor Dualways has announced the arrival of a fresh consignment of Spanish-built electric kids’ bike brand Torrot.
The Torrot brand was launched in the 1960s, building small-capacity motorcycles and bicycles up until the early 1990s. It was effectively re-born in 2011 by an engineering and design group set on designing and building sustainable and practical electrical and hybrid machines. The Torrot parent company is also the owner of iconic trials and endure brand, Gas Gas.
Branded in co-ordinating and striking blue/white livery, the Torrot range provides a low-cost, simple, eco-friendly and quiet way for youngsters to safely learn the basics of riding a powered two-wheeler. Each model is fully automatic and lightweight, making handling a simple process to master and ultimately building rider confidence. But, just in case the budding off-road racer gets a little too confident and carried away, all Torrot kids models can be equipped with a wireless controller, which allows a parent or guardian to remotely limit, configure, or even switch off their children’s motorcycles via an Android or iOS app. A Bluetooth device – worth £170 – is also now fitted as standard.
The E and T models are available in two varieties: the E/T10 is suitable for youngsters aged three to six years, weighs 22kg and has a seat height of 54cm. The E/T12 is aimed at riders aged six and over, weighs 30kg and has a seat height of 61cm.
The motocrosser
The most popular Torrot in the UK is the E12 motocross lookalike which incorporates front fork and suspension from Italian company EBR Performance, Mitas 12ins tyres, single hydraulic shock absorber, and adjustable power output from 600w to 1,500w, which can be regulated manually, as well as via a USB/computer. It has a top speed of 52kph, and its LiMnCo lithium battery provides plenty of fun riding time – up to three hours, depending on the chosen map/programme. The Torrot Group acquired the Gas Gas Spanish trials and off-road manufacturer last year and, the first electric Gas Gas branded bike shares the characteristics of the E12. It’s a pretty safe bet that more will follow.
The T12 trials version offers the same spec as the E12 but is equipped with trials tyres. The supermoto-styled S12 is fitted with road-type tyres. However, a current promotion offers a free set of motocross wheels and tyres, including discs and sprocket, with bikes bought prior to the end of the year. The package is offered while stocks last, and represents a saving of £340.
Recommended retail prices start from £1,350 for the T10 trials bike, with the T12 £1,750. The E10 is £1,399, E12 £1,750 and Gas Gas E12 £1,850. The S12 model is £1,899. A top-of-the-range special-edition Marco Simon Celli (in honour of the former Italian Moto GP rider) carries a price tag of £2,259.
A two-year machine warranty applied to all Torrot machines (one-year cover for the battery), and most models are available immediately from stock.
Dualways is the sole UK distributor for the kids’ off-road range and is offering healthy trade margins, with dealer openings in a number of areas. Call 01623 708 607 or email [email protected] for stockist details.
